ARKADIA – VIRTUAL ZOO

For the 9th birthday of the Arkadia Shopping Mall, Lemon&Orange prepared interactive entertainment controlled by motion sensors. Young (and slightly older) users of the system could interact with virtual animals via Augmented Reality technology.

Simple sequences of movements, such as jumping up and down, clapping one’s hands or raising one’s arms, allowed the kids to play with digitally generated animals, which responded in real time to gestures made in front of the screen.

Animations of interactive animals were accompanied by mini-games, where the user had to complete a specific task – for instance, the kids had to wave their arms to sway a virtual monkey on a liane and collect bananas from trees. During the 2-day event, Lemon&Orange virtual zoo was visited by several hundred kids.
